GFWC International Day of Service
On the last Saturday in September each year, GFWC hosts its International Day of Service. On this day, all of GFWC's member clubs focus on the same issue and participate in projects to benefit the cause. In 2025 and 2026, GFWC's signature project, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention is the focus.
In 2025, our club hosted a brunch during which our keynote speakers were Joyce Yedlosky, executive director of the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and Candace Harper Jones, advocacy coordinator for CONTACT Rape Crisis Center of Huntington.
This year, our club is collecting toiletry donations for the Tug Valley Recovery Shelter, our local safe house for victims of domestic violence in Mingo and Logan counties. Donations will be excepted until Friday, Sept. 25 and can be dropped off at the Mingo County Courthouse, 78 East 2nd Ave., Williamson, West Virginia. All donations are greatly appreciated.
