Who We Are
The GFWC-WV Williamson Woman's Club was founded in May 1927 and was accepted as a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) in August that same year. Our club is the second oldest civic organization in the Tug Valley area, second only to the Williamson chapter of Kiwanis International.
While we are located in Williamson, we serve Mingo County, West Virginia and Pike County, Kentucky. We have members in both states and as far away as
Virginia and Florida. Our mission is simply to
make our community the best it can be
through volunteer community service.
We take the GFWC motto "Unity in Diversity" very seriously. Our club members have ranged in age from 14 to 103 and have been a part of varied cultures, ethnic and spiritual communities. We believe that our strength lies in our differences.
Members of our club are also members of GFWC West Virginia and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). We promote a culture of sisterhood in service
and strive to cultivate strong relationships with
like-minded women who are also members of
other GFWC-affiliated organizations
throughout our state and others.
