SERVICE IS OUR MISSION

Federated into the General Federation of Women's Clubs in August 1927, the GFWC-WV Williamson Woman's Club has been serving the Tug Valley area (Mingo County, West Virginia and eastern Pike County, Kentucky) in multiple capacities through volunteerism. This month, we are celebrating our 99th anniversary!

Upcoming Projects

While we primarily take the months of June, July and August off to rest up before the start of a new service year, we have not slacked off.

Members of our club are busy organizing the 53rd Annual King Coal Festival (activities begin Sept. 12 and continue through Sept. 19) and preparing for GFWC International Day of Service (Sept. 26).

We are also continuing our Cuddle Suds project in which we sell all-natural laundry detergent as a fundraiser. We will be set up at the next Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce Night Market on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The GFWC West Virginia 2026-2028 Service Project is "I Love Music & GFWC West Virginia." We will be focusing on projects that encourage music in our community -- specifically in our schools and among our youth. Our first project will be a young musicians showcase at the King Coal Festival.

Health and Wellness is another important focus for our club. On Sept. 8, we will hold our first grief support group meeting at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Williamson Fire Department. This will be a free monthly meeting for people who have suffered loss and are looking for support from others who are also grieving. This group will meet on the second Tuesday of every month.
